\n\nToyota issued a recall for 48,420 Tacoma trucks over a shock absorber part that could detach while driving, posing a road hazard.
\n\nNational Highway Traffic Safety Administration officials explained in a recall notice that the affected trucks are equipped with front and rear shock absorbers that have an external oil reservoir attached to the shock absorber.
\n\nThe federal agency noted that untreated metal surfaces between the shock absorbers can corrode over time and this buildup.
\n\nIn some instances, the oil reservoir might detach from the shock absorber. If the reservoir detaches while driving, it may increase the risk of a crash.
\n\nThe National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated that the recall covers 2024-2025 Toyota Tacoma trucks (43,827) and 2024 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid vehicles (4,453).
\n\nToyota investigated the vehicles and decided to launch a voluntary recall on July 30.
\n\nOwners of the recalled Toyota Tacoma hybrid trucks will be informed to return their vehicle to their local Toyota dealership.
