\n\nThe Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 15,716 confirmed cases of cyclosporiasis in the United States.
\n\nThese reported cases represent an increase of 1,821 cases from a week ago, the agency noted.
\n\nReuters reported that the federal agency’s data that include the cases reported in the multistate outbreak connected to recalled iceberg lettuce. CDC officials added that they are also probing multiple clusters of cyclosporiasis.
\n\nCenters for Disease Control and Prevention officials noted these cases were reported across 47 states, with 828 hospitalizations and two deaths as of Aug. 17.
\n\nThere are also roughly 11,841 additional cases of cyclosporiasis could require more investigation and analysis, Reuters reported.
\n\nThe CDC reported that Michigan is the hardest-hit state in the 17-state outbreak of cyclosporiasis with over 13,000 reported cases linked to the parasitic disease last week.
\n\nMeanwhile, restaurants have been impacted by the cyclospora outbreak as several chains across the country are experiencing declining sales and customer visits to their business.
