HOUSTON – Tropical Storm Bertha entered Texas on Thursday afternoon as rain spread across the Gulf Coast and has since been downgraded to remnants only.
As of the 10 p.m. update from the National Hurricane Center, Bertha has “degenerated into a trough.” They added there will be no further advisories on the system.

Bertha is brought gusty winds, rough seas and periods of heavy rain to the Louisiana coast on Thursday.

The storm’s first landfall happened about 2 p.m. CT Wednesday near the Biloxi Wildlife Management Area in St. Bernard Parish, according to the National Hurricane Center. By 1 p.m. Thursday, the NHC said Bertha had moved into Texas near the Louisiana border.

The forecast calls for Bertha to move inland and dissipate through Friday. Coastal areas can expect gusty winds, rip currents, some storm surge and periods of heavy rain.

All tropical storm warnings that were issued for the Galveston area to Sargent, Texas have been canceled.

Forecasters are already highlighting the possibility of heavy rain in Texas as Bertha moves inland. The highest rainfall amounts are expected to be between 2 and 4 inches.

Bertha is the second named storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season.

Texas was also impacted by this season’s first named storm. Arthur brought heavy rain and gusty winds to the Texas Gulf Coast in mid-June.
